Guy Van Nueten & Decent Music Ensemble
Guy Van Nueten presents ‘20 Years of Decent Music’ Neoclassical beauty from local soil
To describe the repertoire of Guy Van Nueten (BE) as diverse would be an understatement. Aside from an impressive past as a solo pianist and session musician, Van Nueten made countless compositions for films, dance performances and theatre. He drew influences from Bach and minimal music but has also cited krautrock as an important source of inspiration. What’s more, Van Nueten has always had one foot in the pop and rock world, as a composer and musician for bands like dEUS, Admiral Freebee, Zita Swoon, Magnus and DAAN.
At the end of August, Van Nueten will release his new album 'Decent Music'. It contains an amazing mix of contemporary baroque, minimal music and electronica. Expect emotionally charged piano pieces, alienating soundscapes, a dash of moving choral singing and a mischievous tribute to Kraftwerk.
Besides 'Decent Music', Van Nueten will present his brand new ensemble at the alternative Feeërieeën festival, organised by AB Concerts in Brussels' Warande Park. He surrounded himself with eight vocalists and musicians bursting with talent, with whom he will not only perform live, but also record his next album:
- Ceres Lauwers (cello)
- Hans Van Kerckhoven (violin)
- Nathan Daems (flute)
- Wim Segers (percussion, vibraphone)
- Nabou Claerhout (trombone)
- Alan Gevaert (bass)
- Rodrigo Fuentealba (guitar)
- Naomi Sijmons (vocals, guitar)
