Sorvina
Belgian première by a rapper who describes her style as “hip-hop infused with gospel, jazz, soul and prose”
The New Yorker Sorvina, currently based in Berlin, is dangerously disarming. Just one minute of listening to her Live From The Living Room session and you’ll be smitten. Describing her sound in one sentence: “Rooted entirely in the African-American experience, my sound is hip-hop infused with gospel, jazz, soul and prose.”
Live, Sorvina invariably performs with a backing band. In her words, “Performing is the greatest joy of my life.” In Germany, she shared the stage with impressive international talent such as Alabaster DePlume, Moor Mother and Lonnie Holley, further highlighting her potential.
Any shout-outs, Sorvina? “Yes! To Tyler, The Creator, Doechii, Little Simz and every other queer Black rapper! The future of hip-hop is intersectional, and I love to not only see it but attempt to be a part of it.”
