Bar Chaud is Back: what’s there to discover?

For those wanting to hold onto summer a little longer, there’s a week of free music and afternoon activities to enjoy. From August 26 to August 30, Bar Chaud will host concerts, DJ sets, a streetwear market, skate sessions, dance workshops, and a special skate/dance cross-over starting at 2 PM each day.

Last year, Bar Chaud, the hottest stage of the summer, found its place for the first time at the Boterhammen In Het Park and Feeërieën festival site. The program was wildly popular, so this year we’re bringing a host of free activities back to the Brussels Park.
From August 26 to August 30, we’ll be hosting daily events from 2 PM:

  • Concerts by Maria Iskariot (Dutch punk), SMR (poetic rap), and Ucci Why (spicy rap).
  • DJ sets presented by BRUZZ featuring Ravi Bongo, K4, The Camps, iNess, and KID $LANG.
  • Workshops with BX’elles and Timiss.
  • A clothing market showcasing Belgian streetwear.
  • An exhibition highlighting 50 years of hip-hop at AB.
  • An art installation by Kisanola.

Skate lessons with BX’elles

BX’elles is the female skateboarding crew from Brussels. Their mission is to encourage other girls and women to start skateboarding. At Bar Chaud, they’ll teach everyone how to skate. Your gender, age, or skill level doesn’t matter. These sessions will take place on Monday and Wednesday, with skate equipment available during lessons for those who want to experiment on a mini ramp. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, there will be free-skate sessions.

Dance workshops with Timiss

Timiss is a grassroots organization working for and with the street community: they organize events, support youth initiatives, and advocate for better accessibility and representation within (cultural) spaces. They offer two different workshops:

  • Tuesday: Dance Sampler (4 in One)

Join us for an afternoon of dancing! Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, this dynamic and friendly workshop offers a chance to explore different dance styles, such as African dance styles, krump, K-pop, and house dance in a "speed date" format of 30 minutes each. You’ll also get to watch a video explaining the art of sampling in hip-hop music.

  • Thursday: Ksaaraland

It’s no secret that dance brings people together. Thursday afternoon is all about jamming together, learning how to let loose, and sharing good vibes. There will be a workshop on how to have fun while dancing. The workshop will be accompanied by a DJ and MC, reminding us of what good music can do to our bodies!

Loud! Skate and Streetdance Cross-over

  • Friday:

leads us to the grand finale. Timiss and BX’elles will join forces for Loud! Since day one, hip-hop culture has challenged the norm. With its music, fits, vibe, and the way
it takes over space, this culture is loud (and proud!). In this skate and street dance crossover, let’s embrace the noise and celebrate street culture together.

Art installations

During the five days of Bar Chaud, you can visit an exhibition. Hip-hop is now over 50 years old, and at Bar Chaud, you can see how it has been represented at AB. You’ll also find the work of Kisanola, the "hairchitect," who will redesign the park with her work focusing on African hairstyles, along with photos representing Timiss and Belgian street culture. Both installations are curated by Timiss.

Streetwear Market

A corner of our site will be dedicated to Belgian streetwear! Here, you can find the talents of local designers with exclusive and original collections that capture the spirit of streetwear. By shopping here, you directly support Belgian artists and help showcase their creativity.

All activities are free and require no registration. Everyone is welcome. More info!
